Event Details

Join us on The Garden Terrace at The Fearrington House for a Cocktail Reception from 4pm to 5:30pm to welcome Kim Sunée's Floating Island Writers' Workshop with Special Guest Frances Mayes. The reception will also be attended by North Carolina-based culinary journalists including Kelly Alexander, Moreton Neal, and Barbara Ensrud. Fearrington Executive Chef Colin Bedford is planning a festive menu with wines selected by Maximilian Kast, wine director.

The reception will be followed by two Publishing Panels: one from 5:30pm to 6:30pm and one from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Confirmed participants are Kim Sunée (workshop founder, magazine writer and editor, and author of the acclaimed memoir Trail of Crumbs: Hunger, Love and the Search for Home); Frances Mayes (special guest of the Floating Island Workshops and author of Under the Tuscan Sun and now the wonderful new book Every Day in Tuscany); Sara Foster (magazine writer and author of so many great cookbooks including a SIBA Best Book, Fresh Everyday); Sheri Castle (a professional recipe tester and author of the forthcoming The New Southern Garden Cookbook); Rica Allannic (cookbook editor for Clarkson Potter, who worked with Andrea Reusing on the forthcoming What to Cook Now); Andrea Reusing (author and chef at Lantern in Chapel Hill, NC); Lynn Andriani (a senior editor and the cookbook editor for Publishers Weekly); and Andrea Weigl (Food Writer, The News & Observer and Member, James Beard Foundation Awards Committee). Panels will be moderated by Keebe Fitch (founder of McIntyre’s Books, which has recently greatly expanded its cookbook selections).
